Travel Flats (Prom Week: Day Four)
My mom ordered me these awesome flats last week that are definitely going to come in handy on Saturday! They are flats that can be folded up and kept in this little pouch just in case your heels start hurting. She got them from Mamapedia, and they cost $11 (plus $3.95 for shipping). They are by Bella Sols, and they come in six varieties. They only take three to four days to ship, so order them now if you want them. :)

Not only are they very convenient, but they are so comfy! They are also really cute. :)
Practicing Hairstyles for Prom (Prom Week: Day Three)
Here are pictures of the hairstyles my mom and I practiced yesterday. Which one do you think I will pick? :)

Polyvore Monday: Prom 2012 (Prom Week: Day Two)
This Polyvore set is in honor of prom, the Hunger Games, and the University of Georgia.
I picked this picture of Katniss from The Hunger Games because I absolutely love the dress, and it’s red to represent UGA, which I toured this past weekend. Her dress is so pretty, and I would definitely wear it to prom. Because the dress is so awesome (you’ll have to watch The Hunger Games to see what I’m talking about), I wanted to keep the shoes and clutch a simple black. If you have read Mockingjay from The Hunger Games Trilogy, you will know why the earrings are perfect. The mockingjay pin that Katniss wears adds the final touch.
Preparing for Prom (Prom Week: Day One)
Prom is one week away, so it’s time to start getting ready! Here are a few ways I suggest getting ready for prom.
Skin
One thing I will definitely be doing this week is a face mask each night. Cupcake by LUSH clears up my skin so much! One of my friends is actually using it too, and she loves it as well. :) Also, I am making sure I wash my face nightly! Sometimes I accidentally fall asleep with my makeup on, but that canNOT happen this week. After I wash my face each night, I will make sure to put on my eye cream because I definitely do not want bad circles for prom. (Going along with this, make sure you get a lot of sleep this week!) Before I start to use my self tanner (by Bath and Body Works) I am going to make sure to really exfoliate. Also, I will moisturizing so that my skin is not dry for prom.
Hair
I will be doing a hair mask about halfway through this week. If you do not want to go out and buy a hair mask, you can just use your conditioner. I have found that it works really well. :) It makes my hair feel really soft and replenished. Make sure to practice what hair style you want before the day of prom.
Nails
If you are doing your own nails, I recommend filing, removing the ridges, buffing, and shining your nails before you paint them. It makes them look so good! Make sure to get your nails done one or two days before prom. Last time I tried to do my nails the day of…let’s just say it did not go well.
Teeth
I highly suggest using whitening strips; they are amazing. :)
One last tip is to make a list of everything you need to do!
Here is my list for this week:
- Use face mask EVERYDAY.
- Use self tanner EVERYDAY.
- Practice hairstyle on Monday.
- Do hair mask on Wednesday.
- Get everything together on Thursday.
- Paint nails on Friday.
Hope this helps you guys get ready for prom. :)
Prom Week: The Day Has Arrived!
Today, I had a confirmation retreat at my church.
We had to dress casually, but still look nice enough for church. I wore a tan striped shirt, a belt, some jeans, and my white sandals.
The accessories that go with the two dresses that I chose for today kind of go hand in hand.
Because of the bright colors, I would wear a very neutral makeup look. However, if you’re feeling more daring, you can incorporate some red into the brown.
Especially with the second red dress, I would wear these heels:
Because both of the dresses are quite busy by themselves, I would wear very limited jewelry with them.
Well I was scrolling through some tips, and I came across these tips:
Have fun tonight!:)
Prom Week: Day Six (March 25, 2011)
Another dress I found that I like is this one:
I think it’s really pretty and different, but not too crazy.
Some good makeup looks for this dress would be either the smoky eye I talked about above or a pretty green look that I’ve yet to take a picture of.
My first thought would be to wear black heels with this dress, but because I feel like I’ve been saying that a lot, I’m going to change it up. I say either white, silver, or nude heels would be a good choice for this dress also. For jewelry, I would wear a black necklace or just a simple diamond.
Because this post wasn’t that original, I’ll go ahead and do another dress.
A year ago, I never would have said that I liked this dress. However, I’ve started to get into the A-line dresses like this one.
I thought that these heels went really well with the dress:
There are several different makeup looks that I’ve done that could work with this dress, all based around the colors in the design. I think I would end up picking either purple or blue.
I don’t recommend wearing a lot of jewelry with this dress, especially not a necklace.
Tip of the day: I’ve never tried it before, but I read a couple weeks ago that if you put Vaseline on your teeth, it makes it easier to smile for long periods of time. If you happen to try this out, let me know how it works!
Prom Week: Day Five (March 24, 2011)
So I had an idea today. Instead of showing you the dresses I’ve worn to past homecomings, I found some prom dresses online that I like. I’ll show you how I would wear each of them.
I really like this dress. I find it very unique, and I would definitely wear it.
With this dress, I would either wear the black smoky eye that I showed you the other day, or the gold/orange/red look I featured in “My Computer is FINALLY Fixed…” and “Makeovers! Kristen, Emily, and Ashley Edition“.
The accessories I would choose with this dress would be the black heels and clutch I showed you yesterday.
Tip of the day: Because the oils in your deodorant, hairspray, perfume, and lotion could stain your dress and leave a mark, I recommend you put them on BEFORE you put on your dress. I always save putting on my dress for the last thing I do.
Also, I think that accessorizing your hair is something that more people should do. I almost wore my hair like this for homecoming this year, but I decided against it at the last minute.
Prom Week: Day Four (March 23, 2011)
So today I wore this skirt
With a bright blue cami and this white lace coverup
At the beginning of the day, I was wearing this black beaded necklace.
However, in fourth period, the string broke. I still wanted to wear it, so I just tied it above where the beads began. I wasn’t sure how it would turn out, but I actually kinda liked it.

While I was wearing it, instead of the beads being side by side, the longer side was in front of the shorter.
Today I’ll be talking about the prom color scheme of red. I know not many people wear short dresses to prom, but I don’t have any other long dresses. I wore this dress to two homecomings this year: my boyfriend’s homecoming at another school and the homecoming at my school.
Here’s how it looks when I’m standing:
With this look, I wore these heels,
Carried this clutch (the same one that I showed for Day Two),
And wore my mom’s black jeweled bracelet and earrings.
I curled my hair with a Jose Eber curling iron, and I absolutely LOVE it. This curling iron is the only thing that will give my hair spiral curls. I highly recommend it.:) The only glitch is it gets extremely hot, and the gloves don’t protect your hands very well.
For my makeup, I just wore a neutral brown look.
Tip of the day: Make sure you do a trial run for both your makeup and your hair. You don’t want to find out that it doesn’t work the day of prom. Also, make sure to schedule your nail appointment about three days before and waxing, if that’s what you want, for about four days before the dance.
