Homecoming Week 2011: Day Seven

Today was the day of homecoming!

In this post, I’m going to show my dress, the dress I almost wore, my shoes, my jewelry, my makeup, my perfume, my clutch, and my nails.

Because my friend had my curling iron, and I didn’t know what I was going to do with my hair yet, I ended up just wearing my hair straight. However, instead of just leaving it natural, I straighten it to make sure it did not have any flips or anything. I almost put my “bangs” in a pouf.

I had a minor fashion emergency just a few hours before I was supposed to meet my friends, and my mom had to go to the mall to see if she could find me a replacement dress. Unfortunately, none of the dresses really worked out. (It’s my fault; I should have gone with her to see if they were the right length and such.)

Here is the dress that I almost wore:

Here is the dress that I ended up wearing:

I wore my red platform pumps from Target:

I carried a black clutch from Off Broadway Shoes:

Here is the jewelry that I wore:
(The necklace is from Grandpa and Adele, the earrings are from Papaya, both of the bracelets are from my parents, and the ring is from Target.)

For my makeup, I did a new neutral look. My Aunt Janice bought me the Urban Decay Book of Shadows IV (thank you so much; I love it!!!), and I created my look using mostly that. I also used MAC’s All that Glitters eyeshadow, and MAC’s Rubenesque paint pot. I lined my bottom lashes with Cover Girl’s eyeliner in Brown Blaze. I lined my top lashes with Almay’s black liquid eyeliner. I almost wore ELF’s false eyelashes in Dramatic, but I ended up crying them off (long story..). Finally, I used Cover Girl’s Lash Blast Length mascara. For my lips, I used MAC lipstick in Angel. Over it, I used MAC Baby Sparks dazzleglass.

Here is a picture of my makeup:

I wore one of Kristen’s perfumes, but I can’t remember the name of it.

For my nails, my mom painted them all with Sally Hansen’s glitter nail polish in Midnight Sky. On my thumbs, we put on fake nails. (We were going to do them on all of my nails, but most of them didn’t fit. I had to put the index finger nails on my thumbs..)

Though my day didn’t start the best, it ended well. :) I ended up getting to see both of my groups of friends, which I didn’t think I would be able to do.

Homecoming Week 2011: Day Five (How to Curl Short Hair)

My mom is always the one to curl my hair, so we filmed a video on how she does it. Not only were we curling it for the Joe Jonas concert (AMAZING!), but we were also testing out how we should do it for homecoming on Saturday.

What do you think? Should I wear my hair like this, or should I straighten it with my bangs french braided?

Homecoming Week 2011: Day Four (Red French Tips Tutorial)

Although I am using fake nails for my homecoming, I painted my nails for the Joe Jonas concert on Monday. (I will do a post on this after homecoming week is over.) Instead of doing the traditional french tips like I did last week, I decided to do red tips. As I said in the video, my friend, Megan, painted my nails like this last year for homecoming, and I absolutely LOVED it. Because this was only my second attempt at french tips and with a very harsh color, hers turned out a LOT better than mine. haha

(EDIT: Originally I was going to upload this video for day five, but I didn’t have time to edit today’s video. This one was already edited, so it’s the one going up. Time to study for APUSH!)

Homecoming Week 2011: Day Three

Here are two tutorials for the homecoming dress that I wore last year. One is an inverted smoky eye, and the other is an inverted auburn look. I also show the clutch, jewelry, perfume, and shoes I would wear with each look.

Homecoming Week 2011: Day Two

Today, I decided to do two different tutorials to go with my ninth grade homecoming dress. One is a smoky blue look, and the other is a smoky purple look. I also show the clutch, jewelry, perfume, and shoes I would wear with each look.

Part Two (the purple look)

Part Three (a very funny moment, fashion, and accessories)

Homecoming Week 2011: Day One

I know there have already been some homecomings this year, but my school’s is October 8th. That means today is the start of Homecoming Week.

For the kickoff post I am going to talk about my sister’s homecoming dance. Normally her middle school does not have one, but the cheerleaders hosted one this year for a fundraiser.

My mom and I helped her get ready, and she said the dance was a lot of fun. :)

Before hair and makeup

Directions for her makeup:

1) Put an eye primer all over your eyelids and on your bottom lash line (NOT your waterline.)

2) Place a soft brown eyeshadow all over the eyelid. Apply a champagne colored eyeshadow in the inner corner and as a highlight below the brow bone. Put a darker brown in the crease.

3) Line the bottom lash line with a soft brown eyeliner pencil. On top of it, apply a brown eyeshadow to help it stay.

4) On the top lash line, place a dark brown eyeshadow. Put a very, VERY thin line of liquid black eyeliner  on top of it.

5) Apply one coat of clear mascara on the eyelashes. Then, apply one coat of black mascara.

6) Use a face primer all over the places that you get oily or where your makeup disappears first.

7) Apply a tinted moisturizer all over your face using a foundation brush to get more coverage.

8) Put a concealer under your eyes and wherever you have blemishes.

9) Set the tinted moisturizer with a light powder.

10) Lightly place bronzer in the hollows of your cheeks, your temples, your nose, and your forehead.

11) Apply a light pink blush to the apples of your cheeks.

12) Put a highlight on the bridge of your nose, your temples, and just above the apples of your cheeks.

13) Use a light coral lip gloss to your lips.

14) Set makeup with a makeup setting spray.

Directions for her hair, which my mom did:

1) Make sure hair is completely dry.

2) Spray a heat protectant on any place you will be curling.

3) Curl your hair using a one inch curling iron (I think, I’m not sure what ours is).

Happy birthday, Landon!
