Kristen’s Banquet Outfit (Valentine’s Week: Day Five)

Today Kristen went to my cheer banquet with me. :) The dress that she wore was from Kohls. She wore white sandals, a gem necklace, and hoop earrings.

For her makeup, she put on tinted moisturizer, brown eyeliner, champagne and pink eyeshadow, and black mascara.

She pinned her bangs back for a more polished look.

We had a lot of fun together!

Homecoming Week 2011: Day One

I know there have already been some homecomings this year, but my school’s is October 8th. That means today is the start of Homecoming Week.

For the kickoff post I am going to talk about my sister’s homecoming dance. Normally her middle school does not have one, but the cheerleaders hosted one this year for a fundraiser.

My mom and I helped her get ready, and she said the dance was a lot of fun. :)

Before hair and makeup

Directions for her makeup:

1) Put an eye primer all over your eyelids and on your bottom lash line (NOT your waterline.)

2) Place a soft brown eyeshadow all over the eyelid. Apply a champagne colored eyeshadow in the inner corner and as a highlight below the brow bone. Put a darker brown in the crease.

3) Line the bottom lash line with a soft brown eyeliner pencil. On top of it, apply a brown eyeshadow to help it stay.

4) On the top lash line, place a dark brown eyeshadow. Put a very, VERY thin line of liquid black eyeliner  on top of it.

5) Apply one coat of clear mascara on the eyelashes. Then, apply one coat of black mascara.

6) Use a face primer all over the places that you get oily or where your makeup disappears first.

7) Apply a tinted moisturizer all over your face using a foundation brush to get more coverage.

8) Put a concealer under your eyes and wherever you have blemishes.

9) Set the tinted moisturizer with a light powder.

10) Lightly place bronzer in the hollows of your cheeks, your temples, your nose, and your forehead.

11) Apply a light pink blush to the apples of your cheeks.

12) Put a highlight on the bridge of your nose, your temples, and just above the apples of your cheeks.

13) Use a light coral lip gloss to your lips.

14) Set makeup with a makeup setting spray.

Directions for her hair, which my mom did:

1) Make sure hair is completely dry.

2) Spray a heat protectant on any place you will be curling.

3) Curl your hair using a one inch curling iron (I think, I’m not sure what ours is).

Happy birthday, Landon!

My Sweet Sixteen

My sixteenth birthday was back in December, but I decided to show you what I did for it.

Before the party, Stephanie, my dad, and I went to the clubhouse in my friend’s neighborhood to decorate.

Then we went back to my house, and we got ready. First, I did Steph’s makeup and hair. I can’t remember what I did for her makeup, but I curled her hair using a Jose Eber curling iron.

For my makeup, I did a strong blue smokey eye to match my color theme. Then I put my hair half-up, and Stephanie, Kristen, and I worked together to curl it. Finally, I changed into a white sweater dress, black leggings, and black boots. To accessorize, I wore a snowflake pin, snowflake earrings, a snowflake necklace, my tanzanite ring that I got for my birthday, and my cousin’s wedding tiara (thank you, Angela!). I carried my black clutch purse from homecoming, and I painted my nails Eletrick by Del Sol (it’s a powder blue).

We went back to the clubhouse at 6:30, and the party started at seven. It was so much fun; it could not have gone any better. :)

Here are some pictures from the party and afterwards:

My mom did such a wonderful job decorating the cake; thank you Mom! ♥

Back to School: Seventh Grade

I know many schools do not go back for a week or two, but where I live, we go back to school tomorrow, Monday, August 1st.

I also did a post for high schoolers, so if this is not the look for you, don’t worry.

My little sister, Kristen, is going into seventh grade, so I made this look especially for her. You can do less or more depending on what you like.

To get this look:

1. Use ELF’s Tinted Moisturizer all over the face.

2. Cover any blemishes with ELF’s Concealer.

3. Line lower lash line with Wet ‘n’ Wild eyeliner in Taupe.

4. Use Ulta eyeshadow in Flutter all over the eyelid.

5. Take Ulta eyeshadow in Iceland and place in around the tear duct to brighten the eyes.

6. Finally, apply the Ulta eyeshadow in Cherry Bomb in the outer corner of the eyelid.

7. Blend all the edges of the eyeshadows together.

8. Apply Cover Girl clear mascara to the eyelashes.

9. Use Ulta Tinted Lip Balm in Blossom on the lips.

P.S. I will post a picture of her outfit tomorrow.

OOTD: July 26, 2011

This outfit is what I wore to guitar lessons today. It is very simple, but I wanted to share it with you because it is not something I would normally wear.

First off, I wore my Team Jacob shirt. Since it is kind of see through, I wore a pink and white striped camisole underneath it.

I think they are both from Rue21.

The pants I wore are what make this outfit unique. I wore my hot pink skinny jeans. Going to guitar lessons always makes me feeling more daring with my outfits. :) To hold up my jeans, I wore a white and black leopard belt.

Both the pants and the belt are from Rue21.

To make it a little more girly, I wore my black flats with the roses on front.

These are from Rack Room Shoes.

I also put on my class ring, my sister ring, and my friendship necklace.

For my makeup, all I wore was foundation and Urban Decay 24/7 Eye Pencil in Oil Slick.

I put my hair half back and pinned my bangs into a pouf.

It was a very easy day, but I like how it came together!

Kristen wore jean shorts and a floral spaghetti-strap shirt that she got at an outlet mall in February.

She decided to use all three of the buckles in the back seat...hahaha. The best part is, I wasn't the one driving.

Wearing a Shirt as a Dress

Today was kind of an off day for me, so I’m using Kristen as a model again.

Instead of making a skirt into a dress for her, I decided to use one of my old shirts. I wasn’t sure if it’d be long enough, but it fit almost perfectly; all I had to do was add a belt to make it form fitting.

Next time I have Kristen wear a shirt as a dress, I think I may have her wear tights. I was going to today, but we didn’t have enough time. Next week I’m going to try and start doing more creative things, like wearing my clothes in ways you normally wouldn’t see. I’m also going to start trying new things with my makeup and hair. Hopefully things will start to get a little more interesting.

First Renovation: Let’s Make a Skirt a Dress

In fifth grade, I bought about five really long skirts that I do not wear anymore. (It’s sad that they still fit me five years later.)

So I decided to try and make them into a more stylish outfit. Since they’d look like a shirt on me, I decided to use my sister, Kristen, as a model.

This outfit did not take a lot of work. We took the skirt and pulled it up to her chest. Then we added her lace cover-up, a headband, sunglasses, blingy bracelet, and shoes.

It came out looking a lot better than I thought:) I like how the tie on the skirt turned into a slight focal detail on the top of the dress; it kind of makes it look like it was made to be a dress.
